Binance has announced that GoPlus Security (GPS) will be placed on the Monitoring List starting March 7, 2025. This decision comes after significant price drops and unusual market-making activity.
Why Was GPS Placed on the Monitoring List?
Binance flagged GPS token due to concerns about market manipulation and extreme price volatility. The key reasons include:
- Massive token sell-off – A Market Maker sold 70 million GPS tokens between March 4, 2025 (8:00 PM) and March 5, 2025 (4:55 PM).
- No buy orders placed – The Market Maker did not buy any GPS tokens during this period, raising concerns about price stability.
- Continuous selling after spot trading launch – Right after GPS was listed, the Market Maker kept selling tokens, pushing the price down further.
- Significant profits – This Market Maker made around 5 million USDT from the sales, benefiting the most from these trades.
As a result, Binance has suspended the Market Maker’s account and launched a detailed investigation.
What Does the Monitoring Tag Mean?
Tokens with the Monitoring Tag carry higher risks and greater volatility than regular listed tokens. Binance closely monitors these assets and reviews them regularly to ensure compliance with listing standards.
Traders must complete a risk awareness quiz every 90 days to continue trading these tokens. This rule applies to both Spot and Margin trading. The Monitoring Tag appears on the token’s trading pages and market overview sections, along with a visible risk warning banner.
What Happens Next?
Binance will continue reviewing GPS and decide whether to remove or keep the Monitoring Tag. If further issues arise, Binance may delist GPS from the platform. The exchange evaluates tokens based on liquidity, security, and overall market behavior before making a final decision.
